Consular office of Japan
The Consular Office of Japan, situated in Christchurch, takes design elements from both Japanese and New Zealand visual languages, weaving them together to invoke a cultural interplay that reflects the building’s purpose. To achieve this striking composition, architects Sheppard & Rout utilised our INAX Japanese tiles, which have been manufactured in Japan since 1924. As visitors step into the entrance and foyer of the building, the textured and undulated surface of the INAX Sekiha and Sairin tiles translate into an imaginative play on strength and delicacy, contrasting with the concrete exterior.
